ABOUT DR. DOSSETT

Dr. Emily Dossett currently serves as Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and the Department of Psychiatry and Biobehavioral Sciences at Los Angeles County + University of Southern California (LAC+USC) Medical Center. She founded and directs the Maternal Wellness Center, a collaborative effort that integrates mental health care into prenatal care clinics for women with multiple medical, psychiatric, and social needs. She has the privilege of teaching reproductive psychiatry to psychiatric residents, psychosomatic fellows, and OBGYN residents and faculty. Her research interests focus on public policy and access to services for perinatal mental health care.

In addition, Dr. Dossett serves as the Medical Director of the Los Angeles County Perinatal Mental Health Task Force, a consortium of over thirty public and private organizations dedicated to improving public policy in perinatal mental health care issues. She also works as a consultant to the Strong Start program, a neighborhood-based health care initiative focused on decreasing preterm delivery in LA County. Dr. Dossett writes and speaks extensively on topics related to perinatal mental health throughout Los Angeles County and the state of California, and she can be contacted directly for information about these services.
