WHAT TO EXPECT

WHAT TO EXPECT

After you have contacted Dr. Dossett by email or phone, she will return your message within one business day. At that time, you and Dr. Dossett will decide if she will be able to meet your needs and, if so, when you can meet in person. For many people, the first visit to a psychiatrist can feel overwhelming, and any questions or concerns you may have can be addressed in this initial phone call. You will also be given more specific information about location, parking, accessing the building, and fee structure.

The consultation will last approximately two hours. Spouses, partners, family members, or other significant people in your life are welcome, though Dr. Dossett may ask for a few minutes alone with you as well. Your medical and psychological history will be reviewed, and you may be asked to bring in recent laboratory tests as well. A significant portion of the consultation focuses on different choices for care in pregnancy and the postpartum, and the risks and benefits associated with each. At the end of the consultation, you and Dr. Dossett will decide together on which treatment recommendations are most appropriate for you. She will send you a written report with all this information for you to share with your ongoing care provider.

Dr. Dossett’s fee structure is available at the time of initial inquiry.
